Take Your Team to the Next Level: How to Master Our New Scatter Analysis!
To make it as easy as possible, we have created five ready-made "Quick Views". You don't need to be a mathematician to use them; just learn which corner of the graph to look in!
Here is a breakdown of the five views and how to use them:
1. Value Picks – Find the real bargains
What the graph shows: The X-axis shows Expected Fantasy Points (xFP) and the Y-axis shows the player's Price.
How to think about it: You want players who are expected to score a lot of points, but cost as little as possible.
The golden box: Look for the dots down in the bottom right corner (Low price, high xFP).
Example: Tobias Anker (IK Sirius). With a price tag of only 5.2m, he sits on a sky-high xFP of 8.9. The graph clearly shows that he offers extremely good value for money compared to other, more expensive defenders. A perfect "enabler" for your squad!
2. Differentials – Climb the rankings
What the graph shows: The X-axis shows Expected Fantasy Points (xFP) and the Y-axis shows Ownership (%).
How to think about it: To pass your friends in your mini-league, you need players who score points, but who few others own.
The golden box: Look down in the bottom right corner (Low ownership, high xFP).
Example: Charles Sagoe Jr (Kalmar FF). He has an impressive 8.3 in xFP, but is only owned by 3.9% of all managers! If he converts his chances this weekend, he'll give you a massive green arrow in the rankings, while most others get nothing.
3. Point Scorers – Who is the real threat?
What the graph shows: The X-axis shows Expected Goals (xG) and the Y-axis shows Expected Assists (xA).
How to think about it: This is where you see how players contribute offensively. If they are high on xG they are finishers, if they are high on xA they are playmakers. If they are high on both, they are complete offensive monsters.
The golden box: The top right corner (High xA, high xG) shows the most complete attacking weapons.
Example: Samuel Salter (GAIS). By looking at this graph, you can quickly see if Salter's 20 recorded points are built on solid underlying numbers (both chances created and shots), which helps you assess whether he is a good buy for upcoming gameweeks.
4. Form Players – Jump on the train at the right time
What the graph shows: The X-axis shows Form (recent point average) and the Y-axis shows Ownership (%).
How to think about it: Sometimes it takes time for the masses to discover that a player has hit peak form. Here you can find in-form players before their price rises.
The golden box: Down in the bottom right corner (Low ownership, strong form) you will find the players flying under the radar.
Example: Sead Haksabanovic (Malmö FF). He boasts a fantastic form of 6.5, but is only owned by 2.9%. The graph is screaming that it's time to bring him in before the rest of the game wakes up and buys him.
5. Over/Underperformers – Luck or time for a breakthrough?
What the graph shows: The X-axis shows actual Fantasy Points and the Y-axis shows Expected Fantasy Points (xFP).
How to think about it: This is perhaps the most powerful tool of them all. Is your player overperforming, or has he been unlucky?
High xFP but low points (Top left corner): The player has been extremely unlucky. Don't sell him! The breakthrough is coming soon.
Low xFP but high points (Bottom right corner): The player has overperformed (or been lucky). Maybe it's time to sell him at his peak before the points dry up?
Example: By looking at a player like Bo Hegland (Djurgården) you can compare his 37 actual points against his xFP of 6.8. If a player strays too far in either direction from the diagonal in the graph, you know exactly what you need to do.
Summary: Trust the dots! You don't have to dig deep into the numbers if you don't want to. Just use our five Quick View buttons at the top, peek into the corners we recommended above, and hover your mouse over the dots that stand out. Presto, you've found your next dream signing!
